Too Busy

Michael Scott Speicher died January 17, 1991. LCDR Speicher was the first combat casualty of the Gulf War. When he deployed, he and his wife, JoAnne, had two children, a three year old daughter and a one year old son. After 18 years, “Scott” Speicher’s remains were recently found buried in the sands of Iraq. He had been buried by nomads who found his body. He was flown home and laid to rest with the military honors he earned so bravely.
It seems our president was too busy to even notice. It would have been a nice gesture, even politically expedient for Barak Obama to honor this man and communicate some comfort to the family. Too busy, I guess. He has recently participated in a score of town meetings. He and his family vacated to the Grande Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. He gave a major speech in Cairo, sent video messages to the Iranians, invited a couple guys to the White House for a beer, he even appeared on some late night television shows.
He has traveled to England, Rome, Mexico, Germany and numerous other countries. He has taken his wife on dinner dates to Chicago and New York City. He has time for all sorts of business and even family leisure but not a minute of his time could be taken to honor a man who died for the ideals that have made America great, who died for the very concepts that gave a man like Obama the opportunity to be president of the United States.
A simple “thank you” would be nice to hear from our president. Come to think of it, I can’t recall that I’ve ever heard our president publicly praise our valorous defenders of liberty!
Six courageous military personnel sacrificed their lives for the country they love last week!! Does their sacrifice have any impact at all on this White House???

  1. I personally think that the reason that Preident Obama did not and has not recognized our brave soldiers because it does bot fit his agenda. If it had something to do with healthcare I think he might notice.
