Why the Church of the Nazarene?

Why the Nazarene Church?

The Church of the Nazarene exists in answer to the Great Commission of Christ. "Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:18-20) We are evangelical and missional and desire to be a church used of God to reach the lost everywhere.

The church also exists to serve as a family to believers. We invite all Christ-followers to join our fellowship as we make sacrifices of worship and attempt to bring glory to God through prayer, song, testimony and preaching of the word. We desire to assist family members through times of difficulty and share blessings in times of joy.

The Church of the Nazarene is distinctive in its teaching of sanctification and heart purity. Because there are so few churches and denominations that emphasize this particular doctrine, we believe that God has a special mission for those who are willing to preach and spread this much neglected truth.

We take to heart the teaching of the writer of the book of Hebrews when he stated that we are not to forsake " the assembling of yourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25). We believe that God directs us to employ the help and support of others on this spiritual journey. We are to love and also be recipients of love. It is not necessary to walk this path alone.
