Was Hasan, the murderer of 12 adults and one unborn child at Fort Hood a terrorist?

1. The majority of people I know seem to think so

2. His name is NIdal Malik Hasan, would it be panning out any differently if his name was Jake Smith?

3. Multiple witnesses declare he shouted "Allahu akbar" (Allah is greatest) before he began shooting

4. Hasan refused to fight fellow Muslims

5. He refused to call the war a war on terror, he referred to it as a war on Islam

6. He told some of his co-workers that Muslims had a right to rise up and attack Americans

7. His online posts compared a Muslim suicide bomber with an American soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers.

8. The government refuses to even acknowlege the possibility that he was affiliated with terrorists

9. Within 24 hours the FBI was declaring no evidence to connect him with terrorism (What?!?)

10. The press fell right into line as expected (yellowbellied, hoodwinked, useful fools)

1. His cousin declared he hated guns, he dreaded going to the shooting range, he wasn't very good at it.

2. Relatives said he was a victim of religious harassment

3. Relatives said he was a victim of ethical harassment

4. The Washington Post declared his problem was lonliness.

5. A neighbor said " he was mistreated, he didn't have nobody, he was all alone."

6. Obama quickly warned against "jumping to conclusions."

7. All government sources and news agencies announced nearly simultaneously that the incident was not terror related.

8. CNN's reporter Carol Costello warned against a backlash against Muslim American soldiers:

a. Twin Towers 9/11 -- no backlash

b. Beltway Snipers - no backlash

c. July 4, 2002, Hesham Hadayet shot two people to death in the L.A. Airport - no backlash

d. October 1999, Egypt Air flight 990 crashed into the Atlantic killing 217 people. Investigation showed that the Egyptian co-pilot, Gameel El-Batouty, cut power to the engines and intentionly brought the plane down while repeating the phrase "Tawkalt", (I rely on Allah) - no backlash.

9. Time magazine reported he was suffering from "posttraumatic stress disorder"? What? Doesn't that come after the stress of combat, not before? (author is feeling exasperation here)



YOU DECIDE....



What hope do we have if we are afraid to identify and place blame on the true enemy of America? You can call it radical Islam if you want but the verses they use to build justification for their murderous attacks are found in the same Koran carried under the arm of every Muslim. No matter how you look at it: political correctness, weak leadership, fear of Islam or just plain insanity...we are in a heap lot of trouble.

" Slay them wherever ye find them and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter." - Sura 2:191

" Make war on them until idolatry is no more and Allah's religion reigns supreme" - Sura 8:39

"When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them." - 9:5

Why has he turned his back on our European allies? Why has he thrown so many people under the bus, including his own mother? Why has he snubbed our two greatest allies: Britain and Israel? Why has he embraced despots like Chavez and Castro? Why does former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev admire him? Gorbachev declares that Obama should "implement perestroika in the context of American society". He obviously interprets "change" as becoming more like Russian society!!

I've read with hesitance all the declarations that Obama is a narcissist. But there is something extremely troubling, not just because of his radical policies, but because of who he actually is. He seems so utterly detached. He is almost robotic in his responses. We saw great emotion and even some tears in the eyes of George Bush when America was attacked by the terrorists. We saw nothing of the kind in Obama when our troops were attacked at Fort Hood. He pandered for three long minutes and even participated in an awkward shout out before finally addressing the attack. Then, in a monotone, emotionless voice he announced what happened as if it was some mundane, ordinary event. What is wrong with him?

Why has he struggled for months over the question of increasing troops to Afghanistan? Does he detest the military? Or is he just clueless as to what the mission is? I know I'll never know the answer to this question but let me pose it anyway: When Obama heard about the tragedy at Fort Hood was his sympathies with those who died in the attack and their suffering families or was his sympathy with Major Hasan? If he felt any emotion at all was it a connection with the ideology of a devout Muslim intent on ridding the world or a few trashy, ignorant infidel enemies of Islam?

Obama is probably the most over prepped and tele-prompted leader in the history of mankind. Is it because he can't be trusted to veil his real beliefs if he were to go impromptu?

Why is Obama so uncomfortable around people? He admitted as much in his autobiography, Dreams From My Father. Is there something in his background that makes it difficult for him to relate to people? Is he socially challenged, maybe as a result of a loveless childhood? He was deserted by an abusively alcoholic father. He was dragged about by a seemingly uncaring, communist leaning mother until he finally ended up being reared by grandparents who had some significant problems of their own.

Have you ever traipsed through the snow and looked at the tracks you had left behind. Obama is like a man who can walk through snow without a trace. Did he not write any papers at Harvard? Where are they? Where are all the former neig hbors and classmates eager for their fifteen minutes of fame? Is there no one who would come forth and tell us something they knew about Obama? He was a professor of constitutional law…where are all his former students? I would certainly be talking about my former teacher if his name were Barack Obama! Where are all the old girlfriends? Where are all his former basketball teammates?

Robin of Berkeley makes a very succinct comparison in her blog:

I think we have a right to questions Obama's capabilities as long as we are left in the dark as to who he really is.

Moses approached the burning bush. He was instructed to remove his sandals. We can’t approach a holy God until we rid ourselves of all filthiness. The angel spoke to Moses from the bush. When Moses saw the holiness of God he “hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.”

God asked Moses to deliver his people from Egypt. Moses protested by asking, “What will I tell the people to convince them that I am chosen? Who will I tell them sent me?” God answered, “Tell them I AM THAT I AM….say to them, I AM sent you.”

It may seem strange that God answered Moses in that way. Try to imagine a flying saucer landing in your front yard. An alien climbs down out of the saucer and meets you at your front door. He is curious about you so he asks what you are? You reply, “I’m human.” He doesn’t have any concept of what a human is. So you point to your spouse or your friends and say, “I am like him.” Or you point to another and say “I’m like him.”

God answered Moses by saying I AM THAT I AM because he has no one to compare himself to. The question is presented in Exodus 15:11 “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods?” And that question is answered in II Samuel 2:2 “There is no one holy like the LORD…”

About 1300 years later all that changed. There came a babe born in a manger in Bethlehem. He grew and lived a sinless life. God could finally point his finger to him and say, “I am like him.” John 8:20 “"If you knew me, you would know my Father also."

The Hebrew word for ‘holy’ means to cut. It’s like putting a carrot on a cutting board and cutting its stem off. It means to cut away, to be separate, to be unique. God is holy.

I’ve often climbed behind the wheel of my wife’s Honda CRV and smelled her perfume. I know she’s been there. I identify that fragrance with her. I love to smell it because it reminds me of someone I love very deeply.

There is a fragrance to God’s holiness. He is holy. Everything he touches, everywhere he goes, it’s all permeated with his holiness. His dwelling place is holy, His name is holy, the angels are holy, His son is holy, His Spirit is holy and he wants us to be holy.

His holiness is not meant to make us feel comfortable. God said in Exodus 33, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.” He is not our pal. He is not our buddy. He is a God so holy that were we to see him in all of his holiness his glory would strike us dead. When his holiness came near to Isaiah he fell to his knees and said, (6:5) “Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips…” The sinfulness of man is crushed by the holiness of God.

His holiness should strike a healthy fear in us. “Isaiah 8:13 “The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.”

When I was a boy we had a healthy fear of my father. We didn’t fear him because we hated him. We feared him because we respected him. We were in awe of his authority and his power.

We fear God because he is holy, because we have no idea what we are dealing with. We revere him because he is way beyond our understanding. Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”

It is his holiness that demands holiness of us. 1 Peter 1:16 “Be holy, because I am holy.” We desire holiness, not because of what he can do for us, but because of who he is. He is holy.

Who can know at this point whether Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan acted in a state of temporary insanity or was he a part of a larger conspiracy. It is wise not to jump to conclusions before all the facts are in but soldiers at Fort Hood are reporting that Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar!" (Allah is great) before opening fire on troops who were about to be deployed to fight terrorists in Afghanistan. Was he a terrorist? Not enough evidence has been collected yet to draw any conclusions but he certainly committed an act of terrorism, that much cannot be denied.

We have done well to take the fight away from the America public and al Qaida has not been able to pull off a major attack on American soil for the last eight years. But as this war evolves the techniques and strategies must adapt to the adjustments of the enemy. So, the call of al Qaida is to "think globally and act locally." They are calling on grass roots supporters to carry out the mission. Was Hasan responding to that call?

How difficult will it be to prevent terrorist attacks if they are not sponsored by a centralized authority? Who can question the fact that there has been a certain level of successful infiltration in our military and political institutions?

Because it is one if not the primary responsibility for our government to protect us from these kind of attacks, I'm fairly certain they will let this pass as a man who simply went 'postal'.

How ironic that a follower of a belief that shows little or no respect to women was taken out by a female police officer. She is credited with putting an end to the crisis.

This man was able to get off 42 shots if he never missed. How many times did he reload? How can this happen on a military base where there are so many guns?

The real question I'm struggling with is why was this man who had some obvious anti-American sentiments so easily able to put himself in a position to cause so much death and bloodshed. Does it have anything to do with the politically correct philosophy that has permeated our society? Why do they pull 90 year old, sweet little old ladies at airports and frisk them for weapons and they allow the man who looks muslim, dresses like a muslim and carries a Koran under his arm go by without incident? It's because they fear being accused of racial profiling. Wouldn't it be better to make some assumptions on the side of caution rather than expose innocent life to the likes of someone like Hasan?

Initially, they reported he had been killed but later it was learned that he survived. Now we must all suffer the torture of watching our judicial system apply their political correct beliefs as they try Hasan for his crimes. Will it take years? Perhaps decades? Will he pass his time away in a carpeted cell with a big screen T.V.? Will he be sentenced to death or will he be awarded a far less fate than he administered to his victims?

Its so surreal. Its so insane!

When you think of God what do you think of? If someone were to ask you, ‘What is God like?’ how would you answer? Metaphors abound to try to describe God. He is a Mighty Fortress. He is living water. He is bread for the hungry. He is a light shining in darkness. He is a Father to us. All of these attempts to describe God fall short of his true glory. For instance, describing him as a father would not have the desired affect upon someone who had a horrendous, neglectful earthly father. Isa. 40:25 ““To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.” We must be careful when we make comparisons to God Almighty. There is no one like him. There is nothing like him.

If an alien from a far off galactic civilization were to approach you in your back yard one day and ask you what you are like you might say, “Well, I’m like my neighbor, or a family member. I’m like him or I’m like her.” I stood with my two grown sons last evening (Oct. 31, 2009) while others in the room tried to find traits in each of them that were similar to traits in their father. They are both, in some way, like me.

Moses was feeling insecure when God presented a great task of leading his people. So, Moses asked God, “When they ask me by what authority I do these things, when they ask me who you are, what do I say?” Was he not asking, “Who do I say you really are? How do I describe you to them?” God answered Moses by saying, “I AM THAT I AM” God has no one to compare himself to. He is simply who he is.

Thousands of years later God could point his finger to one walking the earth and say, “I am like him.” Finally, when Jesus appeared in Bethlehem, when he worked his father’s carpenter shop, when he cleared the temple and washed the feet of his disciples…God said, “I am like him!”

As I get older and mature as a Christian I realize more and more what it’s all about. It’s NOT about keeping all the rules. It’s NOT about increasing the number of people in the church or running a successful fund raiser. It’s NOT about being loyal to an institution. It’s NOT about befriending the pastor or some other man of God. It’s about knowing who God is. It’s about understanding his nature and learning to love him for who he is.

We are so careless to allow idols to rise up in our lives. In my younger years God revealed to me so clearly that my participation in athletic events, particularly basketball, had become an idol in my life. I neglected family, I neglected my studies, I neglected my spiritual life because I was so committed to the game. I loved it more than I should have. I could hear God saying to me, “Kevin, behold your god!” An idol is anything that competes with God for our attention and devotion.

He wants nothing more than to be our God. He is hurt deeply when we substitute the things and people of this world for a genuine relationship with him. God wants so much to remove the detestable things in our lives that separate us from him. 2Co 6:17 - “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you”

I sometimes lift my four year old up onto the countertop in our kitchen and ask him to jump into my arms. After some initial hesitation he separates himself from the countertop and leaps into the air and into my arms. My open arms represent strength and trust. He doesn’t separate himself from the countertop just for separation’s sake, he separates himself because he wants his father. He wants me and I want him. When I see his act of faith I am sure to wrap my arms around him and provide him protection, security and love.

The holy life is a life of separation unto God. That separation is too often a separation of fear; fear of hell, fear of consequences, fear of missing out on something. He wants that separation to be a choice for Him. Choosing Him because he is holy. Choosing Him because he loved us so much he gave his son. Choosing Him because we love Him and this pleases Him. The primary purpose of separation is not to make us holy, or pure or spiritually powerful, the primary purpose is to glorify a God we cannot comprehend.
